EDS Defence and Avitech AG awarded the Military Flying Management Information System Program

EDS and Avitech are pleased to announce its selection by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) as the Prime contractor for the Military Flying Management Information System (MFMIS) program.

• Replace the legacy Messaging Automated Low Flying Flight Planning Enquiry and Notification System (M-ALFENS) by providing:
  • An AFTN and ICAO-compliant messaging application for Air Traffic Management
  • An Airfield Status database
• Provide applications for the storing and manipulation of Aeronautical information such as NOTAMS, Routes and Managed Airspace bookings.
• Facilitate the exchange of data between MFMIS and mission planning systems.
• Assist MoD in moving towards its Flexible Use of Airspace (FUA) policy.
• Provide a Conflict Notification application.
• Assist in the rationalization of Air Support Systems.

The partnership EDS - Avitech AG brings together unique and complementary skills to enable the successful completion of this program.

EDS has been successfully delivering Information Systems to MoD for over 30 years. It has significant expertise in Systems Integration, Secure Networks, Mission Planning applications, NOTAM Handling applications, Geospatial Applications and a deep understanding of the military environment in which MFMIS will be used.

Avitech has successfully delivered Aeronautical Information Services, Data Communications systems and Air Traffic Management Systems to both the military and civilian aviation organizations in Europe, North America and the Far East.
